The Prodigal Son

An overall characteristic of people is that they go astray. Away from God who created them. That is what the prophet isaiah revealed to us when he wrote, “all we like sheep have gone astray and turned everyone to his own way”. It’s illustrated in the gospel of Luke chapter 15.
The son wants no part of the father, no responsibility, no accountability. He moves away to a far country, as far from the father as he can get. The son is a clear picture of all mankind. He wants to be the god of his life, to be sovereign.
But God the father is a compassionate God. He sent his son Jesus to “seek and to save that which was lost.”
In Luke 15 the son “came to himself”. He realized the Fathers compassion and returned home with the hope of forgiveness and acceptance. True to God’s nature, who the father represents, He runs to meet the wayward son, Showers him with love and forgiveness and is so glad he calls for a great feast of rejoicing.
The teaching of Luke 15 is that there is “joy in heaven over one sinner who repents”.
Have you “come to yourself” like the son did in the story.
Ask God our loving Father, to forgive you. John 3:16 say “for God so loved the world He sent His only begotten son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life”.
God is willing and wanting to forgive because His son Jesus paid the price for your sin.
Don’t hesitate. Return to God the Father today.
