Gethsemane’s Gems

A gem is something that is valued for its beauty, thus it becomes precious, dear and cherished.

Such is the night of Jesus' last visit to Gethsemane. Jesus’ last night in Gethsemane revealed the depths of His holiness. The agony of becoming sin and experiencing the consequences of being separated from the Father nearly took Jesus' physical life.

Matthew 26: 38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death:

Jesus had a holy hatred for sin, yet He voluntarily would become sin.

2Cor. 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Jesus’ last night in Gethsemane revealed the depths of His love for mankind that He had created. You and me. He voluntarily would surrender to receive all of sin’s punishment that you and I deserved.

There is nothing more beautiful than holiness, absolute purity. There is nothing more precious than love.

These are the gems of Jesus’ character so magnificently revealed to us that last night Jesus spent in Gethsemane.

Dwell upon these gems for a few moments today.

God bless.
