Seasons

Seasons is a biblical term. Perhaps the most popular verse is in Ecclesiastes 3:1 “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven”.

The area of the world I live in has 4 seasons. I have to say I look forward to the changes. Each has a particular purpose. But our world is not the only thing that has seasons.

The Bible says, “to everything there is a season”, and that includes us as people.

In my county we just went through a severe drought. The best I can describe it, is there was no refreshing rain for weeks. It caused a lot of extra work. I had to string out the hoses. Put on the sprinklers regularly in order to keep the lawn green, lush and beautiful. Alive is a good word, because all around things were turning brown and dead looking.

For God’s purposes He sometimes sends a season of drought to our lives. When it comes, it means extra work for us as well. Searching is a good word to describe it.

Is there some particular sin in our lives? Some particular attitude change? Perhaps a behavioral change? Searching means spending more time with God in Bible reading, prayer and study.

Maybe it’s just a testing time. Ask God if some change needs to be made. He will reveal it.

But know that just like my lawn, the extra work kept it green, alive and beautiful. It did not fade away and die.

In your season of drought you do not have to become faint hearted, but it will take extra work. Keep believing, seasons change.

God bless you in your season. Because God has a purpose for it. Amen!
